With the unbearable August heat, and Ramadhan timings keeping me indoors, I haven't been able to take many (or any) outfit pictures lately. But I give you a Ramadhan-kaftan-inspired look and my rosy pink ends that have long since faded and been replaced by another colour.. that is also in the process of fading! What is it about my hair that cannot seem to keep any colour on for longer than three washes?

Clutching at Jil Sander

Two very different clutches, one girl stuck in the middle trying to figure out the difficult task of picking a favourite.

In what could be the fashion equivalent of having to choose with your head Vs. your heart, the question of want/need and trendy/classic comes up very regularly. With so many designers these days managing to mix both classic cuts and fabrics with the colours and prints of the season and giving us a spin on the basic, you wouldn't think you'd need to choose as nearly everything could be rationalized as a "future classic".

Jil Sander gives us two ends of the spectrum. The conventionally shaped envelope bag still retains some edginess with soft deerskin leather in grey and large metal details. This is a clutch you'll be carrying well into your old age.

The Vasari bag is far from a classic.. The two words that come to mind are "paper bag" which you wouldn't really equate with a timeless handbag that could and would probably outlive you. Part of the A/W 12 men's collection, the black version of this bag has already sold out on Net-A-Porter's brother website, Mr. Porter, weeks ago.

If I had to pick, and setting aside the question of "How durable is 100% coated paper, really??!", I would go with a Jil Sander embossed paper bag, because well, when have I have ever listened to my head?

The Highs and Lows: Lace Espadrilles

A summer essential, and the lace just make your feet beg you to buy them ASAP (you know, if feet could talk and stuff..). I first fell in love with these Valentino lace espadrilles a couple of months back, but as nice as they are, I had the nagging thought that "If ONLY they were cream/white, they'd be perfect!". "Ask and you shall receive, and since you're broke, let's make them cheaper!", said the footwear gods; and I found these Jeffrey Campbell's. My feet are now happily encased in lace.

Off the Courts..

(shirt- Zara, similar here and here, skirt- Sportsgirl, similar here and here, necklace- Mimco, watch- Azzaro, cuff- House of Harlow 1960, ring- YSL, sunglasses- Ray-Ban, bag- Proenza Schouler PS1, shoes- Superga)

Fresh off the tennis court.. except really not. I've never been a huge sneaker-wearer, but we know how irresistible these Superga ones were - silver and mesh you guys, SILVER and MESH! This was the perfect outfit for a weekend brunch, on what turned out to be a surprisingly windy day. I blame the skirt, it's always a windy day when I decide to wear it.

Summer Sunnies: The Top 8.

I was sitting and thinking of accessories (as you do), and I realized there was a certain accessory that I chose to ignore lately. Sunglasses always got over looked for rings, necklaces and bracelets, possibly because other than 2 Ray-Bans and a pair of Linda Farrows, I've managed to single handedly misplace every pair of sunnies that I've ever owned. But hey, it's summer, I live in the Middle East so it's almost impossible to go out without them during the day, so I inevitably ended up spending some time clicking through pictures of this most useful of accessories.. Here's my top 8!

New In - Shoes..

I'm a sucker for rose gold, I'm a sucker for d'Orsay-ed shoes, and I don't think I even have to tell you guys how big of an Alexander Wang fan-girl I am, do I?

Put Your Fringed Foot Forward..

The flu. I have it, I hate it. What's more annoying than sneezing 80 times a day is probably the boredom that comes with being so tired that all you can do is lie in bed. Being sick and being confined to my bed also results in some late night online shopping.. Waiting on those packages from ASOS and The Outnet!

This is my attempt at being useful (and giving my credit card a break). Here's an outfit post that I shot in April, wearing the coolest Mulberry boots ever! Fringey orange goodness makes walking fun, although they aren't the comfiest.

Glare Gypsy turns 1, & a Give-Away!

(dress- Reiss, white tee- Living Doll, sandals- Robert Clergerie, ring- YSL, crown- Cult Gaia)

A year ago today I sat down and typed my first post, right before I moved to London for 6 amazing months. A year later so much has changed, but I'm sitting in the same spot (curled up in the middle of the bed with my blanket draped around my shoulders), still typing.

What better way to celebrate than to twirl around the garden in a floral denim dress and cornflower blue crown? (My new favourite summer accessory!)

As a thank you to everyone who has read and supported Glare Gypsy in it's first year, I wanted to start Year II by giving one reader this LeSportsac stripey beach tote, just in time for any beach days and get-aways!

All you have to do to enter is tweet about the give-away, then copy/paste your tweet into the 'Comments' section of this post so I'll be sure to see it, along with your email. A winner will be picked at random and announced once the contest closes on Sunday the 17th of June!

P.S. This give-away is open internationally.

The Highs and Lows: Cap Toe Pumps

I've been staring at these YSL pumps for months now, trying to justify buying another pair of shoes.. I seem to be on a shoe spree. Word of advice, don't try on shoes when you're broke. Especially if they're Celine.. And perfect.. Still dying over that pair ugh! Anyway back to this amazing pair. After months of drooling over these YSLs, I chanced upon their look-a-likes on ASOS. I personally love the duller, more muted gold on the YSL cap toe.. What do you guys think?

Something In The Way..

(top- Nasty Gal, skirt- Marni x H&M, wedges- Surface To Air, bag- Alexander Wang)

More forgotten photographs in the archives, wearing that Marni x H&M skirt. I didn't realize this till I wore it, but the prints and colours on the skirt give me an extremely Indian Sari vibe.. I mean, look at that close up! My Alexander Wang Diego seems to be taking over this blog, but I can't really help it. Love the edge it lends to the prettiest outfits (and I could never resist a stud, especially if it was in rose gold)!

Seeing Dots..

Louis Vuitton have officially announced their latest collaboration with Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, famously known for her brightly coloured dot motif and love of putting dots on everything, including herself.

Kusama's signature primary coloured dots will appear on everything from silk pyjamas, trench coats, bags and jewellery - in store on July 11th. A second collaborative collection lands in October. Here's to some dotted whimsy!

Light to Dark, the Hair Issue.

I have a love/hate relationship with my hair colour. I have the kind of hair that gets lighter at contact with the sun - I love the different shades I end up with. I hate how many different shades I have in my hair, and the huge contrast between the shades. It's a very Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde situation.
Now that summer's here, I worry that it would get even lighter. It also gets very damaged, burnt and dried out so I have to be very careful.. A few years ago when I was living in Australia it got burnt to death from the Aussie sun and took forever to nurse back to health.

To try and save my hair, and also 'cause I was looking for some kind of change I woke up 2 days ago and decided to dye it. I'm not a fan of using hard dyes and damaging my hair even more, plus I wouldn't want to have to go through the long process of growing it back so my hair stylist suggested something much less permanent which I first tried out a couple of months back - as you can see here and here. The dye starts out very dark then fades back to the original hair colour in a period of 1-2 months depending on how often you wash it/time spent in the sun.

It IS very dark right now, even darker than it looks in the pictures, but I do love it! Morticia Adams is one of my style icons after all *snaps fingers*,
